Not an adrenaline junkie type ride, more like visual eye candy, taking in awe-inspiring views of Winterburn Reservoir, an outstanding 360 view at Weets Top and regular glimpses of the famous limestone pavements of Malham Moor.

Much of the riding is deep within working countryside; you may have to gently coax a dozen or so bulls blocking your route forward. If thats not your thing this isnt the route for you.

On a good day, the skies on this route apear to be huge, just the best!

Start point
SD 9621 5899 - GPS N 54 03.982 W 2 00.305 hetton village - left at Rylstone off the B6265, the bridleway begins on your right, as you hit the village. hid between the houses

The Route

An easy climb from Hetton village, go left when you leave the bridleway and hit field, taking in the views of Winterburn Reservoir on the nice but short downhill, what follows is a pretty long climb to the top of Weets Top, it takes a while but it’s the hardest and only major climb on this route.

Take in the amazing views at the top of Weets Top, then down the short but steep bridleway to hit tarmac (turn right), follow this until you reach Mastiles Lane on your left, a half mile ride through a field track then right at the first gate.

Follow Mastiles lane until it turns into tarmac, then turn right off the tarmac as it begins to descend, following the bridleway signs for Boss Moor and take in the superb limestone views. Descend Boss Moor via Boss Moor Lane until you hit tarmac (Malham Moor Lane) turn left onto this road, about 150 yards on your right, the well hidden bridleway continues, back to your start point at Hetton.

Food

Theres a pub in Hetton at the end of this route!! We don’t fancy it; it looks like the kind of place where they might not be too happy if you turn up blathered in mud…. We could be wrong?
